Forced to use a hire car whilst new BMW was fixed - should the dealer pay for my costs?

I ordered a new BMW 3 Series recently, but upon delivery discovered some minor scratches. Due to the fact that I live in London (the car was ordered in Bristol) I had it repaired at a local garage, with the costs being sent to the supplying dealer. However, the dealer has dragged their feet paying for the repairs and I was forced to pay for a rental car. Am I entitled to a refund of rental for the period whilst the garage was waiting for payment?

Without any doubt, you are entitled to full use of your BMW from day one and the supplying dealer prevented this by failing to pay for the repairs. But you will have to prove your loss, with quotes from rental companies for the supply of a BMW for two weeks, then subtract the cost of hiring a MINI for that time.
