Volkswagen won't let me transfer my finance agreement to Guernsey

We are moving to Guernsey in a few weeks and plan to take our new Volkswagen Up with us. I phoned Volkswagen’s financial service to inform them, but they have told me I need to pay the loan in full before the move. Is this correct? I thought that Guernsey was part of the UK.

Guernsey is probably regarded as "offshore". If Volkswagen finance won't budge, the answer is to get a bank loan to pay off the car loan.
