Why the delay in delivery of my new Citroen Grand Picasso?

I have had a Citroen Grand Picasso Exclusive EGS on order since March. The delivery date was going to be June, but the dealer has told me that the expected delivery date is now September as there are production problems in France. I have spoken to Citroen who simply say that orders are in excess of production. Do you know why there is such a delay and are there production problems?

There are delays from many manufacturers at the moment - we've had emails from buyers of Hyundais, Audis, BMWs and Volkswagens complaining of delays and long lead times. The answer lies in the weakness of the pound. Many manufacturers are preferring to fulfil more lucrative orders from other countries before the UK: build allocations for Britain have been cut. Some Audi models, for instance, now won't be delivered until early 2011. Hold tight and you'll get your car, but be prepared for further possible delays.
