Can I demand the return of my deposit after I found a better deal for a Honda CR-V elsewhere?
I saw advertised a Honda CR-V offer which was worth about £2500 off the asking price. I went to my local dealership and had a test drive. I liked it. They informed me that they had one in stock in the colour and finish I wanted, and I gave them a £1000 deposit. This purchase was subject to finance and I completed the Honda Finance, which was approved. I did not sign the Honda Finance agreement. I did not sign an AVRL.
A few days later I received a circular email from another dealership offering me the same car at £4000 off the asking price. When I telephoned to ask them what the offer was, they offered me the same car at £6000 off. I decided to not proceed with the first purchase and bought the car from the second dealer. Before proceeding I asked the first dealership if they would match the offer. They would not. I contacted another one of their branches anonymously and they said they would sell me the car at the same price as the second dealership. When I told the first dealership what another of their branches said, they still would not sell me the car with the further discount and would not return the £1,000 deposit. Am I entitled to this deposit back? I contacted DVLA who informed me that they never plated the car. Your advice please?

No. You entered a contract and welched on it. You are not entitled to the return of your £1000. You should have researched prices better in the first place.
