Which tyres for our Mercedes-Benz SUV?

We have a 2003 Mercedes-Benz ML 270 CDI 4x4 auto showing 52,000 miles, mainly on motorways but a little off-road, and also a 2007 Mercedes-Benz B200 CDI Auto showing 17,000 miles, mainly around town and some longer journeys.

The B-Class wanders very slightly on the motorways and has to be continuously corrected, while the ML is always positive and straight. The ML has Continental 4x4 255/60 R 17 tyres. What tyres would you fit to give good mpg, good grip at all times, quiet running and long mileage? The B-Class has Goodyear Excellence 205/55/R16, 91H tyres, which are still very good at four years old.

In my view the best tyres for a 4x4 SUV are Pirelli Scorpion ATRs or STRs, which is why Land Rover fits them as standard and why all the GLs I have driven have been on them. They are good off road as well as quiet on the motorway.
