Which small cars rival the Honda Jazz?

We have had three Honda Jazzes and have no complaints about comfort, reliability, versatility, economy etc. However, the market has changed and relative to its current competitors, the Jazz is now an expensive supermini with dear servicing and many extras are still excluded, unless it is a top of the range model.

Other brands are now offering lower prices, better specs, longer warranties, cheaper servicing as well as good discounts for less money. Therefore, reluctant to commit ourselves to yet another Jazz, what you would recommend we consider as some of the best new alternatives?

No one else offers the 'Magic' seats versatility because no one else can. It is a Honda patent. Cars like the Fiesta and Mazda 2 drive much better than a Jazz, but all they have in the back is folding backrests. You cannot create a flat floor load compartment in them and, of course, the rear squabs do not raise. More versatile competitors include the Nissan Note, Hyundai ix20 and KIA Venga. Then small station wagons like the Peugeot 207SW, SEAT Ibiza ST, Renault Clio ST and Ford Fusion (Fusion now discontinued).
