Should I take out an extended warranty?

My three year warranty is to end soon, the car has done 27,000 miles. Do you consider it worth taking out a warranty? I have four quotes:

Volkswagen approved warranty: £207
Warranty wise: £438
AA: £399
Warranty Direct: £296

Which of these is best for me bearing in mind the big difference in price. I telephoned the Volkswagen agent I bought the car from, and they recommended the AA, making no mention of the Volkswagen approved scheme.

A bit odd!

Depends what they cover. But assuming they all cover the same with the same exclusions then you will have less trouble making claims on the warranty you bought from the dealer you take the car to than you will with the independent warranties.

All too often, dealers make things up and try to milk the claims from independents, but don't when they have sold you the warranty.
