Extended warranty claim refused as "it's not mechanical"

I have an extended warranty on my 2007 Seat Altea. It states that it covers "all mechanical and electrical components" except those listed in exclusions. My top engine mounting snapped and my engine was listing badly. The warranty company initially said it was covered and then said it wasn't as it wasn't mechanical. I think they're wrong. Do you have a definition of mechanical that would help me?

Nothing in the exclusion list would refer to the engine mounting.

A mechanism cannot work unless it is attached to something, therefore the mounting of the mechanism is part of the mechanism. But you may have redress anyway against whoever sold you the warranty. Law: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
