Is this 10-year-old Toyota Yaris Verso a good purchase as a second car?

We are thinking of buying a ten-year-old Toyota Yaris Verso as a second car that will be used mainly for local trips and the school run. I've seen one advertised as a private sale for £1,800, which I feel is slightly on the high side though it does seem to be a clean example. The car in question is a 2001 X-plate with 88,000 miles. It's had four owners and comes with a full service history. The current owner has had the car for four years. Bearing in mind the age, are there any major problems the car is known for and what are your views on the asking price?

There is huge loyalty among the Postman Pat fraternity and that explains the high prices. No less than 150,000 Yaris Versos were sold in Europe between 2000 and 2006. More on the model here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/toyota/yaris-verso-2.../
