Can you recommend a small, economical automatic car for use as a runabout?

I'm 63, semi-retired and seek a used ‘runabout’, the criteria being an automatic (a must) with the lowest possible road tax and insurance costs, and excellent economy. Depreciation and ‘street cred’ are not on my radar. The only car I would not consider is a Smart Car. Can you suggest anything? Our main journeys are fully catered by my wife's 2.0-litre automatic Citroen C5.

A 2010 Toyota IQ 1.0 Multidrive CVT. That's 110g/km, so £20 tax and is the only true used automatic 110g/km or under.

Triumph of 4-seater packaging that still earned 5 NCAP stars. Most models 99g/km so VED free. Better to drive than a Smart or a Fiat 500.
