What do you think of plug-in diesel upgrades to improve fuel economy?

What is your opinion of plug-in diesel upgrades kits for increased mpg? Bearing in mind the high cost of diesel, are they worthwhile? How many miles would it take to recoup the initial layout cost? If they are feasible, which make would you recommend?

They increase torque at low revs, allowing lower revs to be used so giving greater economy, but this has to be compatible with a DPF if one is fitted. Insurers don’t like these mods and may impose an enormous premium increase that removes any financial advantage. Try www.superchips.co.uk and www.mybluefin.com
