What has caused our 2009 Volkswagen Polo's tyres to wear out in just 8,000 miles?

A relative owns a 2009 Volkswagen Polo with an 'auto' box. At just 8,000 miles all four tyres are worn to such an extent as to need replacing. Most of the mileage has been on motorways. Any ideas?

Incredible. I have never heard of this sort of tyre wear on a Polo. It indicates that the suspension must be completely out of alignment, possibly bent from being tied down too harshly on the car transporter, but that is the responsibility of the dealer who originally supplied the car.
