Need a safe car with space for golf clubs

I need to replace my 10-year-old Vauxhall Corsa.

My prime concerns are safety and solid build as I may be carrying a first grandchild in the car.

It also needs to be economical to run and comfortable for motorway driving as said grandchild will be 120 miles away, a distance I could be travelling on a regular basis.

In addition there needs to be space to fit golf clubs and a trolley in the boot (for when I have any spare time)!

Golf clubs fit across the back of the boot of a Golf, behind the rear wheelarches.
