Do I need business insurance for car boot sales?
If I do the odd boot sale with my car is this considered SDP for insurance purposes or do I need personal business cover?

The insurance requirement for car boot sales depends on how often you are going to car boot sales, the purpose of your attendance and the specific policies of your insurer. As an example, if you attend a car boot sale three or four times a year, and use it to sell unwanted items from your home, then this could reasonably considered social, domestic and pleasure usage and we would expect most insurers to accept this. However, if you go to a car boot primarily as a seller, attend once a month or more frequently, and are sourcing items specifically to sell on at car boot sales, then we would expect this to be considered business use. Regardless of the circumstances, we would advise contacting your insurer to explain the situation to ensure that you have the right amount of cover for your needs.
