Is the government electric car grant ending in April?
A Kia dealership told us the ECG discount might expire or change from April 2026. What info do you have on this? Can you confirm this is not the case.

To clear up the confusion, the Electric Car Grant (ECG) is definitely not being scrapped in April 2026. In fact, the government recently committed an additional £1.3 billion to extend it through 2027. However, there are changes happening on April 1st, 2026, that likely prompted the dealer's warning. The grant isn't expiring, but dealer offers might. The government grant (£1500 or £3750 depending on the model) is safe. However, Kia’s own PCP Finance offers (like the 3.9% APR and the £1000 deposit contributions on the EV4) are technically scheduled to refresh on March 31st.
Dealers often use this quarter-end deadline to push for a sale, warning that the manufacturer’s discount might change, even if the government grant remains. This is a classic sales ploy designed to get you to sign a deal before the end of the month.
