How can I get Emergency Call to work on my Honda now 3G is being switched off?
I just found out the Emergency Call button on my 2003 Honda CR-V will be inoperable fairly soon as it runs on 3G which is being discontinued in a few months time. Honda says the service will stop with no solution or work around.
It's some five years since the 3G closure was announced and Honda kept selling cars knowing this. Do you know of any work around or upgrade that can solve the problem?

Honda has communicated that a number of its models will be affected by the switch off of the 3G network and that the e-call service will no longer be available. It is unlikely that there is a workaround, as the vehicle's electronic systems have been designed to work with 3G data and are unlikely to be able to support 4G or 5G networks, though you may wish to contact your dealer to see if they are able to offer a solution. How the switch off affects different cars depends on the brand, as certain BMW and JLR models are affected while those from Toyota and Nissan are apparently unaffected.
