Do I need a geometry check if replacing two rear coil springs?

Am I correct in saying that following the replacement of two rear coil springs on a Ford Mondeo there would be no need to have a geometry check including front toe adjustment and rear toe adjustment? Especially as three months prior to the above I had new tyres and some suspension work done and a geometry check at the same place. A Kwik Fit manager stated to me there was no need for it when just replacing these coil springs.

If the rear springs were replaced there would be no need for a front geometry check, while at the rear it depends on the level of disassembly required as to whether a geometry check is required - with a beam axle it may not be required, but with independent rear suspension if a control arm is disconnected to install the spring then an alignment is advisable, if not necessarily essential.
