Do new cars still need running in?
How to run in new petrol car?

The vehicle owner's manual will provide specific instructions where required, but as a general rule we would suggest avoiding full throttle and high engine revs for at least the first 500 miles, if not the first 1,000. Even when past 1,000 miles, gradually increasing the maximum engine speed is preferable to hitting the rev limiter immediately. We would also advise against labouring the engine in a high gear, as well as avoiding harsh braking where possible. Modern engines are built to tighter tolerances, but they still benefit from a gentle running-in period.

I've heard a lot of comments about the 1.5 TSI engine in Volkswagen Group cars and hesitation problems. Other than that it would suit me well, probably in a Skoda Superb.
