My car caught fire

On Friday 1st April I was driving along the road in my 2006 Audi A4 convertible with my three year old daughter.

All of a sudden I started to smell an intense smell of burning and smoke stared pouring out from under the bonnet.

I pulled over and jumped out the car, a police officer had also pulled over has he had seen that the car was on fire. We got my daughter safely out the car and stood back as the car burnt out. The fire brigade were called and safely put the fire out, on inspection of the car they informed me that they believed the car had caught on fire due to a faulty fuel line.

Two weeks prior to this incident Audi had done an MOT on the vechicle, they had also replaced the front brake pads as well as top up low oil and power steering levels.

I had the car recovered to Audi where they had one of their technitions look over the car. They have told me that they do not know why the car just caught on fire so there is nothing they can do for me.

I would really appreciate some advise in regards to this matter.

Is this expectable as the fire brigade have clearly stated that there was a fault within the car and supplied Audi with a report to that effect?

Audi done some work on the car two weeks prior, could they have possibly done something to the vehicle which caused it to catch on fire?

Is Audi liable for the loss of my vehicle?

No, your insurer is. If your insurer has a problem with Audi it will take the matter up with Audi.
