Garage Liability

The starter motor failed in September 10, the new (brand new, genuine Vauxhall) replacement failed the next day.

This was replaced by the main dealer at no cost. The Starter motor has now failed again, and this has been blamed on a faulty ingition switch.

The dealer is proposing to replace the starter motor with a reconditioned unit. Do you feel he is within his rights to do this?

Yes. But the problem might actually be damage to the starter ring on the flywheel.
