Is it cheaper to charge a PHEV at a commercial charge point or using the petrol engine?

I own a Ford Kuga Titanium PHEV. Is it cheaper to charge the battery at a commercial charge point or by charging it using the petrol engine?

Generally speaking, public charging points are the most expensive way to charge an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. In the Kuga PHEV you can set the drive mode to EV Charge which will use the petrol engine to charge the drive battery, although this will lead to increased fuel consumption compared to when the battery can be used to power the vehicle. However, we would expect this increase in fuel consumption to be less than the cost of most public charge points.

To get the maximum benefit of your vehicle's ability to drive on electric power alone, a home charging point will provide the cheapest means of charging, ensure you can use the pure EV mode as much as possible and reduce your fuel consumption and emissions.
