Can I reject a car because the hybrid range is less than what I was told?

I have just got a '67 plate BMW 2 Series Active Tourer PHEV. I was (verbally) told the battery range was 28 miles by the dealer, I now find it is actually 13 miles.

Is this grounds to reject the car?

Just as with fuel consumption figures, range figures for hybrid and pure electric vehicles are WLTP calculated figures, designed to offer comparison between vehicles.

Although the range you are experiencing is disappointing, there are many factors that can affect the performance of a vehicle with a drive battery. Driving style, tyre pressures, vehicle load, ambient temperature, road conditions and battery health will all affect how well the car performs.

Under ideal circumstances we would expect your car to get closer than this to the quoted range, but unless the vehicle is faulty we would not expect an attempt to reject the vehicle to be accepted.
