Best small family car for £4500?

My sister is looking for a small five-door car. She's expecting a baby in the summer. They have a limited budget of £4500 and are looking for something that's good for short runs and capable of longer trips to visit family in the north.

Please advise what you think might be a good solution for her?

A five-door Ford Fiesta with the reliable 1.25-litre petrol engine would be a very sensible little car with low running costs. We'd also recommend a Honda Jazz. It's a bit more practical than the Fiesta and should be a very dependable choice.
