Can you recommend an automatic with a big boot?

Because of knee problems I want to buy an automatic. It will probably be my last car so I'm looking for reliability, a boot big enough to take two cocker spaniels, good handling and reasonable mpg. I'm looking to spend about £27,000 which includes trade in and would consider used up to 18 months.

We'd recommend a Honda Jazz. It's a very reliable and cheap-to-run hybrid car with a huge boot and easy access for cocker spaniels. Your budget will get a brand new high-spec Honda Jazz with all the toys. Alternatively, consider a small SUV like a Skoda Kamiq or Toyota Yaris Cross.
