I am currently looking to buy a Civic CR-X due to being a Honda fanatic. After browsing the usual places (Autotrader, eBay, etc.) I came across a reasonable spec car. I contacted the seller and visited the car at his home address. I ended up walking away after recalling something you stated on your website about home traders. After arriving at the seller’s property, I soon realized I entered a home car park. The guy had 3 CR-Xs, a Mazda MX-5, a Rover 800, a 4x4 and a few smaller hatchbacks. I declined the car immediately because the V5 seemed to have incorrect details. Is it legal for someone to privately sell so many cars?

It's legal, but they aren’t private sales. HM Revenue & Customs will take an interest if he is not VAT registered, is not keeping books and is not declaring the income. It also makes him a trader in terms of consumer liability so makes a purchase from him safer than from a private individual.
