What is life like with your car? Let us know and win £500 in John Lewis vouchers | No thanks

Honderable gentleman

Two days ago I received a letter from a solicitor in Essex stating that my car - and it then gave the number plate of my car, but described it as a Honda Honda - had been involved in an accident in which apparently it had rammed into the back of a stationary vehicle and failed to stop, and the client, who was named, had received whiplash injuries and wanted to make a claim for loss of earnings etc. The date time and place of the alleged incident was not given, nor was the copy it mentioned of that letter for me to send to my insurers, enclosed. I have sent an email back to the solicitor saying that I can state categorically that neither I nor this vehicle have ever been involved in any accident or incident. So I await a response. I do wonder how it is possible for my car's number plate to have been apparently plucked out of the air? Could this be some sort of scam? I would be grateful for your thoughts and any advice.

Definitely a scam. Report the “solicitor” to the Law Society. You will probably find out that he isn't a solicitor.
