Has an extension been granted for driving licence renewal?

Has an extension been granted for driving licence renewal? I missed my renewal date by a fortnight but have now made an online renewal and received a confirmation. Can I drive with my old out of date licence (due to covid delays in the system) until my new licence arrives? I rang my local police and the lady said she didn't really know but would assume it better not to drive!

Photocard licences have been granted a seven-month extension - but entitlements to drive haven't. It's all explained here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/coronavirus/2020-06/dvla.../

You might be able to drive under Section 88 while DVLA have your licence. Have a read here to check: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/upload...f
