Kith and Ken

We have a neighbour who has just bought a massive American truck. It is, I believe a Kenworth tractor, similar, I am told to the trucks in the series: “Ice Road Truckers”. The neighbour tells me he is entitled to drive this monster on a car licence, as long as he does not hitch a trailer to it, which he does not have. Is this right? He keeps the truck at the side of his house he owns. He tells me he has bookings for months ahead to show this truck at events all over the country. The noise of the engine and air brakes when he starts the thing up is deafening. How can we fight this menace? I am at my wits end.

The boxer Chris Eubank used to have a Kenworth tractor that he drove around Brighton. (Maybe it's the same one.) What the neighbour can drive depends on what categories he's covered for on his license. More at www.dsa.gov.uk There is a width restriction on what you can drive on a car licence, as well as a weight restriction, which precludes a lot of American mobile homes.
