Car ire

I visited UK in November and hired a car from Hertz, everything was in order when I returned the car, I was therefore surprised to find an amount of £34.50 debited to my credit card a few weeks later. There was no detail on the credit card and I received no correspondence from Hertz. Upon making enquires; the charge was an admin fee for providing the police with my details as I had picked up a speeding fine. I protested that the charge was excessive for having to spend two or three minutes on a computer. Response, pay up or we hand it over to a debt collector. What do you think?

Unless you pre-agreed to pay this charge in your signed rental contract (which you probably did, so check it) they have to sue you in court and win the case before they can employ a debt collector to pursue you for the debt.
