Do I have to tell an insurer if my car is Category C/D write off?

Do I have to tell an insurer if my car is Category C/D write off? And if I were to buy one would I need a new MoT? I have seen a number that say they have a number of months left - probably before they were 'written off' - could they be drivene until their MoT's came up? Some might work out pretty cost effective if that were the case.

No you do not, but it will make no difference, as they will know. This will devalue the vehicle in the event it is a total loss in the future. You do not need to re-MoT. If it has a current MoT, it has a current MoT. This does not mean it is roadworthy, that is down to you, the current MoT obliges the law.
