Honda Civic (2012 - 2017)
2.2 i-DTEC SE 5dr Hatchback
Underated
As with another reviewer I'm so glad I ignored some of the average reviews of this car. I had already tested a Ford Focus and Hyundai I30 and was not exactly blown away. I then noticed an ex demonstrator at my local Honda dealer and loved the car. First the engine, smooth and quiet with plenty of power when needed but it does take a while to kick in due to the high gearing. The ride is very smooth due to the new fluid dampers with the handling very decent with perhaps just a touch too much body roll. No problems with the smooth gearchange from the six speed box.The interior has an upmarket feel in general from the soft touch plastics to the switchgear although there are cheaper plastics lower down the cabin. If you want space and practability I doubt you will find better with the boot and magic seating. At the moment I'm averaging around 50-55 mpg.So what's not to like ? Some may find the numerous dials and displays over the top and yes the split rear window is annoying. Styling is also going to be a love or hate it thing. My advice is if you are in the market in this segment give it a try.
