Ford Fiesta - Cheap insurance - troppo

I have foolishly lost my 9 years no claims because of being off the road for 2years 3months(apart from pushbike!)Age 50,no accidents, convictions or medical history, clean as a whistle. Want to insure a 2000 Fiesta 3d std 1.3 zetec as cheap as possible.Anyone know of an insurer who might give me a good deal for quiet old East Lincs please?Noticed TPFT is sometimes dearer than Comp with some.Best quotes I`ve had are Fortis,TPFT £288 and Zurich,Comp £315,both incl £26 legal cover.Paid under £100 to insure my old van from `07-`08....the same as it would cost me to insure my old BSA Bantam if I put it on the road this summer, and I haven`t ridden that since 1978...or any bike for years! Thanks

Try some more insurance companies to see if you can still use your NCB. When my wife was without a car she was told her NCB was 'live' for four years - this was with Tesco and it was honoured after more than two years without a car.

Some online insurers are asking whether I have driven regularly for the last two years, presumably because I have no NCB. I have been driving overseas.

I wonder whether someone stating that they have been regularly driving, though not in a car insured under their name, would have any benefit. It seems as though the 2 year gap is due to your ability and experience rather than them simply wanting to void a NCB.

Thanks "3point14"...yes I did feel a bit rusty for the first few miles after over two years off the road, but soon got back into the groove.

Thanks for your reply.Tesco told me they would only carry lapsed NCB forward for me if it was them I was last insured with.

Got a fair deal with Axa through a London broker who were slack in sending me any documentation. After a month`s waiting I received a courtesy call asking what I thought of their service?Ahem!Suggested I would quite like some paperwork in case I was pulled up,not that the police need to see any documents nowadays.
