BMW X3 - BMW X3 3.0 MSport 2011 vs 2015 Honda CRV Dtec EX 19 Mar 2018 (Forum)
We have a budget of £18k and have the chance to buy a 7 yr old 45k mileage BMW X3 3.0 MSport diesel auto but have also seen a 15000 mileage Honda CRV DTEC diesel manual EX 2015 plate. We have had an 2006 Honda CRV for the last 8 years which we’ve been pleased with Both high spec cars but wonder if any advice on better buy? The BMW seems to hold value better but is obviously an older car. -

I see Ford Focus instrument clusters come to us everyday, both Mk1 and Mk2's for various problems! Mk1 Ford Focus clocks are common for being completely dead or have dials dropping out. I now guess that plugging in a USB memory stick to replay an audio book through the car's audio system somehow triggers this difference. I guess that this somehow affects the wheel speed sensors or computer(s). I guess that this stops the power steering from switching properly from slow-speed (max. assistance) to its high-speed (min. assistance) mode, and the brakes/ABS wrongly assume that a wheel is skidding, so can pull to one side or perhaps trigger the stability control? -

The car has a full Jaguar service history and has been serviced 3 times at the main dealer since this advisory. I was just wondering if there is a known problem with the rear differential on the 2015 XF? I understand that there was a problem with the 2009 XF but am I right in assuming this would have been resolved by 2015? I’d greatly appreciate any advice - I’d imagine that the Jaguar main dealer that supplied and serviced the car from new would have solved the problem (the car has now travelled another 20,000 miles since this MoT advisory 3 years ago) but as you can imagine, seeing this advisory on the car’s first MoT concerns me. -

Took car for MOT on Tuesday (5days ago), failed Re-Mot test done on Thursday - (for bushes/bulbs/number plate only) Had only driven it maybe 5 miles max in one go but since the MOT was done I had noticed a funny smell an thought I could see a bit of smoke coming from engine - didn't really think anything of it . Anyway had a bit more of a drive today(Sunday), still only about 20 odd miles but substantially more smoke/smell was coming out - got someone to have a look under the bonnet and my oil cap is completely missing!? -
