Ford Focus - Advice on Focus MK2 1.8 Sport 7 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Hi all, Well after long last we have finally sold the wife's BMW E46 and now she is in the market for a new (second hand) car. With a budget of £2250 MAX we think we have found the ideal car. She would like to have a MK2 Focus. As she does very few miles per year, and 80% of them being town miles, a Diesel was the worst thing she could get and I have convinced her the Petrol is the way forward. -
Ford Fiesta 1.4, 59 plate - Brake fluid level following disc and pad change. 7 Nov 2014 (Forum)
After taking the car for a test drive--the braking was fine--I checked and found that the master cylinder was so full that fluid was actually leaking from the cap. I carefully removed excess fluid down to the MAX level, but my question is this: can temporarily overpressurising the system in this way do any lasting harm? -
Ford Fiesta Saloon - Fiesta coolant problem 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
2006 1.4 Fiesta Diesel At the end of a journey a small amount of coolant is deposited on the floor - enough to lower the level from Max to about half way towards Min. I think it comes from the header tank vent, (if it was a leak I think the whole system would be empty before I got home). It's as if the radiator fan doesn't come on at the end of a journey causing the residual heat in the engine to cause the coolant to boil). -
Ford Focus 2001 1.6 zetec - Battery Light, crazy dials, high voltage 27 Mar 2010 (Forum)
The next day whilst driving, the battery light went on and off a few times, then the speedo and rev counter shot up past the max, then the front, rear and side indicators all came on (constantly on, not flashing), meaning i couldn't signal. Then the speedo went to about 150mph and stayed there. Also the fuel/temp gauge will drop to 0, the radio will cut out, and the door open lights on beep will sound. -
Ford Focus III (2008 - ) - 08 1.6 Coolant Loss/Use 5 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I took off the cap and some water came back into the tank but only about 1/4 litre so I put a litre of water in and carried on doing another 30 or so miles till we get home, checked again with no serious loss and put about a litre in to bring up to the max mark. The car has only done 11500 miles and I have had a quick look around and can see no obvious pipes loose or signs of a leak so it is a bit of a mystery, is there a simple solution as I dread the 60 mile round trip/wait/faff to the dealers, I will monitor it again but it may have to go back. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 1.8 misfire after start up 15 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Since then has been sometimes difficult to start on v.cold or damp mornings - rev counter spins to max as engine is trying to catch and temperature flips to fahrenheit and trip milometer resets. I've always got it started within 60 secs of trying. Car will stutter at 2000rpm and then I'm up to motorway speeds as it is dual carriageway in every direction from home, and it seems ok. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 98 1.3 Heating prob ... ... 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
My heaters in the car don't seem to work proper, they blow cold air 95% of the time. And once in a blue moon they give me some (little) heat for 20mins max when the car has run for 10-15 mins. The cabin never gets warm... I thought it was the heater control valve that everyone seems to have had problems with but then again I do get periodic heat from it... could this still be defective. -

They must be joking 11 Oct 2004 (Forum)
A 3 door "Titanium" will cost £15,775 new (base price). With the only options that are worth having, the price goes up to £18,000 for a non Ghia ford. £19500 for a "Magnum Grey" 2.0 TDCI Ghia. CD and ESP. Wow - for that money I'd get an RS or even scrimp and save and buy a Golf R32. What are Ford doing - they bring out an ugly car and then overprice it. -
Trust Ford Online 3 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Has anyone got any experience with buying from them? The car I'm looking at is a 2014 Ford fiesta zetec s and has low milage. I've checked my local dealer Evans Halshaw and for the same money Ford want, my money would get a car a year older with far more miles on the clock. I've also read its generally better to get from a main dealer rather than franchise, after reading about Evans Halshaw its left me in doubt buying from them. -
Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - 2005 1.9TD Fuse box burning out 21 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I am now on the 4th fuse box unit, it's the one beside the battery and it's the same terminal that melts each time where the lead runs in from the alternator. Ford replaced the first one as it was under warranty but that went 9 months later last November and I've just replaced it again. Ford - and VW apparently - claim there isn't a problem but something must be causing it to overheat. -
Ford Galaxy - Winter tyres - "van" tyres on a Ford Galaxy 22 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I currently have 195/60-R16 summer tyres, and the only reasonably priced winter ones in this size (with the High Load rating I need in the Galaxy) are M+S Dunlop Winter Sport M2s, but note that they are sometimes described as commercvial or van tyres. Does this matter (given the Galaxy is a bit like a van in any case!)? The spped rating is T - my current ones are H - but I believe that it is common practice to drop down a speed rating when using witner tyres. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1997 1.25 Zetec Over-revving 18 Dec 2012 (Forum)
1997 Ford Fiesta 1.25 with Zetec Engine My son has just returned from a couple of days away (including motorway journeys ) and says that on several occasions when pulling up to a road junction and putting engine into neutral, the car revs went up to 5k plus. -

X Ford Mondeo 1.8 cam belt / lifter 3 Aug 2007 (Forum)
s going to cost me an extra £147 (apparently I didn't need all to be changed) on top of what I've paid for the cam belt and service. Should I have to pay for this as there was no noise before I took it in? -
Faulty windscreen washers - Ford Focus 17 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I can still hear the pump working as normal, but it takes about 5 seconds for any water to appear, and even then the jet is much weaker than it was previously. The rear screen washer jet, which takes it\'s water from the same resevoir, appears to work as normal. I mentioned this to a Ford technician and he suggested it might be due to screenwash gunking up the resevoir. His solution was to stick a hosepipe into the resevoir, however he can\'t have been overly familiar with Focus design since the neck of the resevoir has a 90 degree turn which is too narrow to fit a hosepipe down! -
Need a reliable used car for under £8k 15 Oct 2016 (Ask HJ)
I need a reliable used car that will comfortably cover 15,000 miles a year. My budget is £7000 and I've been told to buy a diesel. I quite like the Toyota...
