  • Car for 3 adults and two small children 15 Mar 2017 (Forum)
A new Touran fits the bill but the older ones lack the isofix points and are mainly diesel. Equally I don't want anything as big as an S-Max. I wonder if a CR-V could fit both seats, with one in the middle, and an adult next to them? Am I going to have to go to a dealer and fit both car seats to see if it is practical?

  • peugeot 306 1.9 DL MPG's ???? 22 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I've just bought a 1998 'S' plate diesel (non turbo) 306. Currently I'm doing about 450 miles per week... approx 360 of those are a weekly commute from Sussex to Lincolnshire. My old 405 1.9 diesel (non turbo) estate with 120K miles on it easily returned 50 mpg on the same trip/conditions... the 306 is doing a max of 44...
  • Volvo S60 4 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Unfortunately I wont be buying one straight off the production line but will be looking for as few miles as possible with £15k being my streched to the max limit. For long enough I have seen the 5 series as the main contender for replacing the Omega, however on my budget I will be struggling to pick up a 530, and would more than likely choose a 523/528 on a V plate with 50k on the clock.

  • Ford - 1.0 litre destined for Focus & possibly Mondeo 29 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Apparently so, but since there’s no official name for it yet we’ll call it ‘super-downsizing’ or in other words, using a very small engine in a not so small car. Extreme downsizing - and Ford's new 999cc triple Ford’s new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, direct injection Ecoboost engine punches well above its weight with both 99bhp and 118bhp versions coming. It’s destined not just for the likes of the Ka and Fiesta as we might expect, but debuts in the Focus and it’s also destined the C-Max and forthcoming B-Max.

  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 tdci washer pump change 19 Oct 2009 (Forum)
the washer pump is not working but the wipers are, im told they run off the same fuse so i need to change the pump. It is a cannister approx 10' tall, located under the o/s/f wheel mudflap i think? Is this easy to change, and why does it look different and much bigger than all the pics of washer pumps on ebay?

  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Mk IV 1.25 Alternator belt 13 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Without going to the expense of buying a Haynes manual, does anyone know how to remove the alt. belt on a non power steering, non air con MkIV 1.25 Fiesta (97), Can't find any adjustment on Alternator, it looks like the tensioning wheel/pulley is unbolted and then belt taken off or is it more complex than that? Thanks S.

  • FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 1.9D, the old smoker, quits in time for MOT.. 4 Jun 2008 (Forum)
That`s a real shocker as I don`t believe in any of this, or fuel additives but that`s the only variable from previous years. It goes without saying given my beliefs, fuel additives have never been used. Now, I should say that the Local Authority MOT testers, have always stamped on the pedal on the smoke test.

  • When do you top up oil? 16 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Just reading a few threads about oil and oil consumption makes me wonder when do you all top up your oil? As soon as you notice it's dropped below maximum, when it's mid-way between max and min, or when it gets to minimum? I'll start the ball rolling; I top mine up when it gets just below the midway between min and max, unless I'm going on a long trip away from home, in which case I will top it up to max irrespective of how far below max it has dropped.
