  So minimum £400 diagnostic.  Rang ford and they aren't interested. So don't know if I should just forget warranty and pay a cheaper independent to fix it, or gamble on warranty. I think it's unfair to be charged so much to find out if it's warranty covered.

  Excessive of white smoke on cold start in te mornig, and also rough idle. After 2mn it all clear and run sweet the rest of the day, no lacking of power. Had 4 new Ford injectors, glow plgs,cylinders compression checked 27 to 25 psi. Checked glow plug relay, fuse, circuit, egr valve, timing, crank and cam sensors, leak off pipes, fuel pipe feed, and return. All ok.

  Hi, this is my first time posting but having been back and forth with my car to my mechanic I was hoping for some help/advice. My 2007 diesel Ford S Max was losing coolant. My mechanic diagnosed an issue with the thermostat housing which he then replaced. When I got the car back there was diesel leaking. He assured me it was just where he had to remove the injector and fuel had dropped down into the belly pan underneath and was simply spilling out whilst I was driving.

  It's happily done 102,000 miles now, but it is super comfortable for 4, but it's surprisingly difficult to get 3 car seats across the back. I am currently looking at a Ford S-Max for my growing family. I've taken both the 2.0l Diesel Manual, and the Auto in the same engine for a test drive. I liked both, but prefer the Auto. In financial terms, the Auto for the same car is £55 more per year on the vehicle tax, and taking the quoted mpg (47mpg for the manual, 38mpg Auto), if I do say 6000 miles per year, the additional cost of running an Auto over the manual is approx. £200 pa including the tax.

  I'm in the market for a used compact MPV with a budget of around £8000, looking for an automatic to accommodate both me and wife (never had to buy automatic before) and prefer one with 3 full size seats in middle row. Been looking for weeks and now stuck on Ford S-Max, Peugeot 5008, VW Touran maybe Citroën Grand C4 Picasso. Anyone have any experience with these or have any other suggestions. My main fear being making the right choice regarding gearbox etc as I've never driven auto and was put off by reviews of the Ford S-Max Powershift transmission.
