  Two men jailed over classic Mini thefts 13 Apr 2016 (News)
  Detectives believe that the pair may have been responsible for the theft of more than 40 vehicles across London, Kent and Essex between August 2014 and May 2015. Police said the pair were able to use their specialist knowledge to gain entry to the vehicles and ‘hotwire’ the immobilisers in order to drive them away. Detective Inspector Caroline Clooney, of the Met’s organised vehicle crime unit, said, ‘These men systematically targeted the owners of classic Minis across the south east.

  Nissan smashes recycling targets 2 Jun 2008 (News)
  According to Japanese automobile recycling law, firms must meet a 70 per cent target by 2015. Furthermore, the company's airbag recycling ration was 94.3 per cent, beating the legal requirement of 85 per cent. "Consistent to the Nissan Green Program 2010, the company will continue with its efforts to reach the ultimate recovery ratio of 100 per cent," the firm said.

  What we can now reveal, however, are some of the figures relating to the classic cars also involved in the scheme. No fewer than 45 examples of the Jaguar XJ-S, for example, were traded in and scrapped, as were 14 Porsche 944s, 18 BMW 6-Series, 88 Citroen 2CVs, 29 Peugeot 205 GTis and 22 Reliant Scimitars of various types. And if you’re wondering why there aren’t as many large saloons of the ’80s and ’90s on the roads as there used to be, it’s partly because the scrappage scheme saw the loss of 273 Saab 9000s, more than 700 Volvo 740s, 100-plus Ford Granadas and – amazingly – over a thousand Rover 600s.

  Silverstone Classic 2017: Jaguar royalty to join XJ220 celebrations 25 May 2017 (News)
  As engineering director at Jaguar, Randle was the mastermind behind the fastest and most expensive road-going Jaguar ever created. Helfet was Jaguar’s senior sports car designer and the brains behind the XJ220’s timeless lines. The two leading lights were recently reunited at Don Law Racing in Staffordshire, the family-run business that is responsible for keeping XJ220’s on the road. Law currently has 22 XJ220s undergoing various renovations, some with just delivery mileage on their odometers. Law will be curating the record display and parade at Silverstone in July.

  Barn find Aston steals the show at Beaulieu sale 7 Sep 2016 (News)
  .’ Bonhams sale at the 50 th annual Autojumble saw more than 400 lots of motor cars, motorcycles, and rare automobilia go under the hammer, collectively achieving a grand total of £3.1million for the sale, with 84% of lots sold. Also selling well was a 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 S Coupé. Originally owned by King Hussein of Jordan. After an intense bidding battle, the 300 S finally sold to a European bidder for £292,700. Further highlights of the auction include a 1939 Brough Superior 982cc SS100 motorcycle, sold for £113,100, a 1936 Cord Sportsman 812 Supercharged, sold for £100,060, and a 1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider soared above estimate to achieve £92,220.
