Review: Gurston Down Hill Climb Driving School experience (productReview)
It's then time for two more runs to put that feedback into action, followed by a break for a delicious lunch and time to chat with your fellow Hillclimbers. The instructors and the many marshalls are all very helpful and encouraging. -
Review: Aftershokz Xtrainerz (productReview)
Once loaded and ready to go, the headphones are very light (30g) and sit nicely over the top of the ears. They fit comfortably around the back of the neck and don’t bounce when running. The headphones are light and non-obtrusive too, so after a while, we stopped being aware of them. The sound quality is really good for both music and talking, although we did have to turn the volume up when running down a busy high street. -
Review: Wahoo TICKR Fit heart rate monitor (productReview)
At £65, the Wahoo TICKR Fit is not cheap to buy, but it is comfortable and lightweight. Indeed, it's the perfect fit and forget heart rate monitor. Even after a two hour run, we found it to provide a snug fit that didn't move from the sweaty arm it was attached to. While the quality of the strap is up for debate, the device itself is extremely impressive. Sometimes heart rate monitors can lose connection as you build up sweat or run in the rain, but the TICKR Fit didn't miss a beat during any of our test runs. -
Review: Aftershokz Aeropex (productReview)
Sound quality and volume aren't as compromised as we expected when we did some reading ahead of testing the Aeropex, but if we do have the headphones turned up loud - they block out a lot of the noise of the traffic on the residential road we run next to anyway. For the most part, it's about finding the balance that works for us, which is especially useful considering that a big element of the Aftershokz headphones are safety. For those that feel wary while out running, like we do, the Aeropex also add an element of safety to our exercise routine. -
Review: Bagotte BG800 Robot Vacuum Cleaner (productReview)
At 55dB it's reasonably quiet, although you wouldn't want it on in the room while you're watching the cliffhanging climax to that long-running BBC police drama. Ours is programmed daily at 3pm during school run time, although the dog is not a fan. True, it does make quite a clack as it runs up and down the stone kitchen floor tiles, but generally, it's a lot quieter than a full-size vacuum. -
Review: Iceplane ice scraper (productReview)
In all fairness, a little bit of forward planning renders any ice scraper pointless – sitting in the car for five minutes with the engine running will usually clear ice, while windscreen cover will prevent it forming in the first place. Should I buy one? Nobody is perfect. For those surprise frosty mornings, or for drivers who are running late and don’t have time to wait for the ice to thaw, the Iceplane is easily the easiest and best ice scraper we’ve tried. -
Review: Proviz Reflect360 Reflective Outdoors Jacket (productReview)
It's comfortable with its fleece liner providing lots of warmth. It's a little too warm, though... we found that within a few minutes running or cycling we were having to undo the zip for more air, even on cold days. We also question the durability of the Reflect360. Our test jacket is already showing some cosmetic wear and tear after fairly light use, the zip also feels a little bit flimsy. -
Review: Honda Forza 125 2017 (productReview)
Of course, the same could be said of most 125cc scooters – and there are lots of options that give the Honda a run for its money. The Kawasaki J125 provides a similar experience for less money, while Honda’s own PCX 125 is significantly cheaper to buy and just as cheap to run, albeit less plush and high-tech. The Forza 125 is very pricey for a 125cc scooter at £4566 – but we think it’s worth it for the level of quality, refinement, economy, performance and practicality on offer. -
Review: Bridgestone DriveGuard tyres (productReview)
What is it? It’s a replacement tyre with run-flat capability. Normally, run-flat tyres are fitted from the factory by car manufacturers, so cars have bespoke suspension settings designed specifically to complement the tyres. DriveGuard tyres can be fitted to almost any car, on the proviso that it has tyre pressure monitoring, something all new cars must have by law. -
Review: Micro Suspension Scooter (productReview)
The larger 200mm wheels combined with the built-in rear suspension mean it's great over bumpy or rough surfaces. It really surprised us with how smooth it runs and there are no rattles on the move, instead just a lovely effortless ride. The soft grip handlebars help filter out some of the vibration and on a good run, you can get a real turn of speed out of the Micro Suspension, the low rolling resistance wheels help. -
Review: Honda Miimo robotic lawn mower (productReview)
ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B07B3TC4PF&linkCode=as2&tag=wwwhonestjo03-21&linkId=850c0ded30472605d27769c9acceb149" target="_blank">inexpensive Miimo wire repair kits on Amazon . Once this is done, Miimo is up-and-running within minutes. It runs almost silently, too, so it’s easy to forget that it’s there. Out of the box there’s only a few settings that need to be fine-tuned, such as cutting height and the cutting pattern and then it’s off. -
Review: Sony PlayStation 4 Pro games console (productReview)
'True' 4K or not, the graphical upshift is remarkable. Of course, it’s difficult to convey that without actually showing you the same game running in standard resolution and in 4K – those of you who remember watching those ‘DVD is amazing’ adverts on your portable telly at the start of a VHS movie will know why. Trust us though, 4K games look beautiful. -
EGO LM1701E cordless mower (productReview)
The EGO LM1701E is powered by a 56-volt lithium-ion battery - a first for a cordless electric lawn mower, and can be charged in as little as 30 minutes. That's quick, but a little bit of the shine is taken off by the 20 minute run time with the supplied 2.5Ah battery. If that's not enough, EGO will sell you a 5Ah or 7.5Ah battery that deliver 40 and 60 minute charge times respectively. The wide cutting width of 42mm means you can cover ground pretty quickly though, while there's a broad range of seven adjustable cutting heights that runs from 80mm to a Wimbledon Groundsman-pleasing 20mm. -
Review: Tile Mate review (productReview)
Conversely, if you lose your phone you can double press the Tile’s button to make your phone ring, even if it’s on silent. You can also run the Tile with Apple iPad from 2012 onwards, iPad Mini, iPod Touch and Apple Watch, and most Android devices running 4.4 or later and Bluetooth 4.0 or later. Tile Mate, alongside Tile Slim, are in the ‘non-Pro’ range of Tile products and so have the more basic specification. -
Review: Hyperkin SmartBoy (productReview)
It probably took 10 minutes to set up and the instructions needed to be followed meticulously. Once up-and-running, the first thing that strikes you is just how crisp and clear the screen is. For those of us who battled with the blurry green, too dark/too bright and black screens of the original - it’s impressive to see these games playing on modern screens. -
Review: Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Generation) (productReview)
Eventually, we ended up connecting by accident, and there were several other basic features that had me running to the app’s ‘help’ page. Fortunately, most of the answers were there and we rarely had to go running to Google.Review: Zero FXS 2017 (productReview)
Peak power is an A2-friendly 44PS, but peak torque is a hefty 106Nm. That means there is plenty of grunt up to a certain point, but the FXS starts to run out of puff at motorway speeds. But for town driving it’s great - the simple, twist-and-go throttle and potent acceleration mean pretty much nothing can win in a rush away from the traffic lights - even performance cars.Review: Garmin Instinct 2 Dezl Edition (productReview)
Shock-resistant and water-rated to 100 metres, though, it can certainly take a bit of a beating in your day-to-day life. We haven’t tried running it over with an 18-tonner, but it’s been dropped a few times and it’s not showing as much as a scuff. While we’re used to smartwatches, the sheer amount of features on the Garmin Instinct 2 Dezl Edition means it can be slightly overwhelming at first.Review: Micro Wagon (productReview)
When you've parked it up, the handle clips in against the frame, which also makes it easier to push. Even when fully loaded up, the Micro Wagon runs smoothly, once on the go, with no wobbles or rattling wheels. A few things to note though, if you're tall you'll find the handle a little low and it would benefit from a hoop type handle rather than a t-bar.Review: Karcher LMO 18-33 cordless mower (productReview)
You'll need to plan ahead a little before cutting your lawn as the battery takes over two hours to charge with the supplied 2.5Ah battery. Once charged, you should expect a run time of up to 24 minutes. As this cordless lawn mower is designed to cut modestly-sized gardens, the Karcher LMO 18-33 has a cutting width of 33cm (you can probably see how it gets its name now).
