Exchange of fluids! 18 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I asked my Skoda dealers to carry out the 45,000 service last Monday and in addition requested they change the engine coolant, brake fluid and gearbox oil, plus the air and pollen filters. The charming lady receptionist point blank refused "Is no necessary" in her best English. My Spanish is not yet good enough to argue the point so there the matter rested. -
Omega - oil leaking onto manifold 19 Feb 2003 (Forum)
My neighbour's Omega ('94, 3.0 elite) has just had a coolant leak sorted out by replacing a leaking 3-way heater valve. It was also serviced at the same time. The mechanic (a Vx specialist) noted that the car had more than it's fair share of oil leaks (none of which were serious - rocker cover gaskets?) -
Peugeot 306 Replacement Engine 3 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I've just been told my a garage that the problems I've been encountering with my 306 (97 D Turbo, only 54k miles) mean that I need a new engine. Basically the problem was that the engine was losing coolant, and the head gasket went. I had anticipated that this would cost a few hundred pounds to mend but have just been told taht it can't be mended, and a replacement engine will cost 2.8k!!! Any suggestions as to what I should do would be appreciated. -
306 DTurbo starting 16 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Now it will fire and stall, several times until it will eventually run. Once started, it runs fine, plenty of power and it is not using any coolant or oil (Headgasket was done 6K ago). I thought it could be air getting into the fuel system somewhere, so I pumped the priming bulb several times. There is a slight weep from the top of the fuel filter housing, obviously if fuel gets out here air will get in. -
Semi-busted Xantia cooling fan 1 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, Having now worked out why the coolant temp was fluctuating so much, it appears the retaining screw that holds the blades onto the left motor has done a runner, hence the blades have now fallen off (but are thankfully trapped between the grill/bumper and motor). -
2004 Audi A6 Avant 1.9 - Various Issues on PD130 engine 23 Apr 2023 (Forum)
I've been led to beleive this is most likely worn injectors but what are people's thoughts on this? Secondly, it has begun using coolant more than it should. It uses a tank over a period of 400 - 500 miles, but there doesn't seem to be any oil in the water or vice versa, and no overheating issues. It's hard to tell if there is any steam from the exhaust due to possible injector fault. -
Ford Galaxy mk2 - Over Voltage problem 28 Nov 2020 (Forum)
They suggested replacing the battery which they did however less than 24 hours after they did this I get the same problems again. Recently the car has had a new clutch, new fuel injectors, new fan control module, and had the coolant system replaced on a Ford recall. I love the car it’s got low mileage but I can’t keep shelling out to keep it running. Does anyone have any idea ? -
Water pump replacement cost/ Ford Focus Zetec S1.8 6 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I have seen countless videos of the exact engine type (Duratec HE 1.8 P) in the same car having a water pump replaced and it does not involve the timing chain (yes it does not have a belt). All that is required is the movement of the coolant tank, undue engine mount and jack the engine up for easy access to the AUX belt section. What price is realistic here? Is ford trying to con me? I have the car booked in on Wednesday with the local garage. -
Peugeot 307 - Red Stop light and rising temperature gauge issue 7 Nov 2018 (Forum)
The other issue is the heat blower inside the cabin does not provide heat anymore, it is very minimal. So far I have had the temperature sensors replaced, engine temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor and a replacement thermostat, none of this has resolve the issue, even my mechanic is puzzled. Any ideas as what this could be? thanks in advance for you help. -
astra h 1.9 cdti - glow plug / temp sensor problem 14 Sep 2016 (Forum)
A short in the coolant temperature sensor circuit would give a low resistance reading to the ECU-which would be interpreted as high temperature (voltage and resistance drop with increasing temperature). i am hoping somone can through some light on this for me on how to test wiring from temp sensor to ecu etc. -
Ford Fiesta flight 1.3 2002 3d - hot air overheats only after engine restart 10 Sep 2016 (Forum)
The engine itself does not obviously seem to overheat. Bonnet normally warm, no white smoke, no warning light (this model does not have a temp gauge) Coolant does need topping up more than I expect but no obvious leak. please solve my mystery - what would you try first? spec: ford fiesta flight 2002 (1995 to Mar 2002 model) 1.3 petrol Endura E engine (afaik) had it about a year. -
Citroen C1 - Water pump replacement as a precaution? 24 May 2016 (Forum)
Car seems to be running nicely, no grinding noises like I've read about in the case of pump failure. Coolant level is fine and it's never over heated. Just seems a pricey thing to replace if there's no set mileage in the service schedule for replacement. For the record it's a 55 plate with 75k miles. -
Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 97 1.8 Heater blower not working 2 Apr 2014 (Forum)
The heat setting does work because you can feel the hot air if you put your hand over the vents but it has not got any blower at all. I changed the radiator a couple of months ago and put the proper coolant in, and since then it doesn?t seem to want to work anymore. Before I used to get my missus to nudge it with her feet in the passenger foot well to get it working only now it won?t even respond to that. -
Is my car overheating? 3 Oct 2013 (Ask HJ)
Last night the temperature gauge on my nine year old Volkswagen Golf failed. The problem corrected itself after 10 miles, but I’m worried there might be... -
mazda rx8 2006 - ignition/immobiliser staring issue 10 Aug 2013 (Forum)
The only fault prior to all this was the drivers door lock which wasn't locking on the remote and needed to be locked with the key. The other locks still worked on the remote oh and the coolant level light was on but that was the expansion tank sensor issue which was fixed some time ago. The battery was also replaced a few months prior to this problem. -
'52 KA 1.3 - Ford KA w/ multiple problems 8 May 2013 (Forum)
Got a few problems with my KA, but I'll start with the most pressing. Recently, after driving, there has been a gurgling sound coming from the coolant hoses and expansion tank. The level has not been dropping and I've always kept it topped up. The hoses get plenty hot and there's no sign of any steam or leakages anywhere. I thought it was only longer jouneys but it also happened after 5 miles. -
Ford Fiesta - 2003 Fiesta Zetec misfire - water in plug chamber 6 Oct 2012 (Forum)
No fault code showing but car running badly so about to try new plugs and replacement leads but not sure how trace this water leak. Not convinced its a core plug as it changed sides and there is no loss of coolant, car well maintained etc. Any advice from the Backroom boys? -
Vauxhall Astra H - Astra Mk5 Water Pump Hose Connector 26 May 2012 (Forum)
After i had cleaned the car i decided to check the levels, i normally do this once every few weeks so was surprised to see my coolant res empty. i topped it up and made a mental note to see if there were any leaks when running. i checked the oil level and managed to flick some on top on the coil pack. i wiped this away but in doing so i gently knocked a small hose on the top of the water pump, which just fell away. i noticed that the plastic hose connector had just sheared away but i had only tapped it. this led me to believe that this was the cause of the leak and had degraded over time. has anyone else had this problem? -
Nissan Note 1.6 Petrol - Nissan Note - Possible Head Gasket on way out 19 Jan 2012 (Forum)
2008 (March) Nissan Note purchased from non Nissan garage, 44k now 49k on the clock. Cars been slowly losing coolant for a about four months. It also has the squeely belts so was thinking it was connected initially - Garage advised to keep an eye on it. Took it into Nissan today and they say its the head gasket and that they wont know the damage fully without taking it apart but estimate £750 to repair and at same time fix belt. -
Peugeot 307 - Peugeot 307 HDi struggling to start 23 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Whether the engine is hot or cold seems to make no difference so I think I can safely rule out the glow plugs. I read on another forum that it could be the coolant temperature sensor.....is this likely? Or what else could it be? The car has just had a new MAF so that is fine and there are no faults recorded on the ECU. 2003, 68K HDi 2.0 110 Thanks
