  • Reliable family car £5000 21 Mar 2022 (Forum)
We are family of 4, two kids, 5 and 2 yo. We are looking for a reliable family car. We used to have a honda jazz, 2013, automatic, which was brilliant from the technical aspects. No issues at all while having it. We sold it. The problem was .. it wasn't enough head room for ME:)), I'm too tall for this car :)). I thinking about Toyota verso, mid suv like toyota rav4, vw Touran. .. but I'm not sure which year, engines to avoid...
  • Mid Life Crisis Car 14 May 2021 (Forum)
I've always wanted a convertible so that I can feel the wind in my har - whilst I still have some hair!! I'm allowed a budget of £7k and my only stipulation is that the car must be an automatic. Given the age of the cars I'm likely to be looking at, I'm guessing a petrol will be a better prospect than a diesel. (The only car that I won't consider, and which comes up on an autotrader search, is a Smart Fourtwo).
  • Mercedes A Class Purchase Advice 29 Mar 2021 (Forum)
_nkw=ford+focus&_sacat=9801&_dmpt=Automobiles_UK&_odkw=&_osacat=9801">Ford Focus  1.1 Ecoboost Titanium but always promised myself something much nicer, the MB A Class seems to fit the bill. It would need to be automatic around a 2017 plate. Would I be doing the right thing upgrading, there are so many things that need doing around the house, but I keep telling myself I have worked hard all my life why not. Seen this one the other day can't afford it yet but gives you an idea what I am looking for.
  • Audi A5 auto boxes 13 Oct 2020 (Forum)
I am looking to replace my Saab convertible and am drawn to either a BMW 3 series coupe or an Audi A5. I would like to get an automatic. I know there are no real issues with BMW autos but I am unsure about the Audi. It seems some have the Multitronic gearbox and some the S-tronic. I understand that the S-tronic is the DSG box and the Multitronic a stepped CVT.
  • Peugeot 508 e-hdi - French e-HDI gearboxes and class action lawsuit? 5 Sep 2020 (Forum)
How come there is a class action lawsuit for the Ford dual clutch automatic gearboxes, but there is no such class action for the e-HDi gearboxes which are woeful? I have such a gearbox on my 2013 508 e-HDi, and it is a well known fact that these jump out of first, only to decide to slam back into first gear again.
  • Tips on which used car? 2 Jun 2020 (Forum)

  • Various - Connected cars 15 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Had access to the previous owners email, home address, spotify account and access to the automatic garage door opener. along with a list of all his destinations since he purchased the car. even a list of his drs appointments on the in car calendar.   Have obviously conducted a full factory reset but can see this becoming a bigger problem as more and more cars become fully connected.
  • Skoda Roomster - ATF filler 26 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Please can anyone help??? I went to do an oil change on our Skoda Roomster and managed to drain the Automatic transmission fluid by mistake.  I only lost about half a litre (if that) before I realised my mistake and put the plug back in but obviously now it needs putting back in.  Yeah, I know I should change it but as a temporary measure until I can afford some new stuff, I'll put what I drained back in...

  • Mazda 2 - Buying a used car - advice please 28 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Hi everyone, First time posting here. I was after some advice please as I'm looking for a reliable automatic for my wife's first car. I have found a mazda 2 which is 8 year's old and on it's recent MOT  it mentions two advisories for : surface corrosion rear axle and slight damage n/s outer sill.
  • Cars with DSG boxes - Do they break cambelts sooner? 22 May 2019 (Forum)
Is this why some manufacturers reduced the advisory change intervals?  These boxes must unduly strain chains as well, no?  I always thought automatic gearboxes protected the engine from harsh and unsympathetic drivers but now I'm not so sure.  Perhaps this effect is offset by the many gears such boxes now have, so that the r.p.m. change between the gears is less?
  • Vauxhall Mokka replacement 27 Nov 2018 (Forum)
My daughter currently runs a Vauxhall Mokka 1.6 petrol which while she likes the driving position, however its rubish on fuel also her family is getting larger....she would like to change it for something bigger to accomadate three under 6year old children and automatic and better fuel compsumsion for her work commute...diesel would give the best mpg but I am worried of potential problems if she goes down the diesel route...she does do over twelve thousand miles a year....does an economical seven seater petrol engined alternative exist...your advice would be much appreciated as I am just getting more confused the more I look at possibles.

  • Citroen C3 - Trouble starting and resetting date/time 1 Nov 2018 (Forum)
It's almost as if it momentarily disconnects from the battery, and it then starts, but my time and date have reset and my windscreen wipers go up and down just for one cycle and then it automatically locks the doors. It's under warranty for 3 months so want to take it back to them and explain the problem, but don't want to be fobbed off due to not knowing about cars, and was hoping someone would know what the problem is likely to be before I take it back.
  • Mazda CX-5 - Mazda CX5 Spare Wheel 14 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I've just bought a new CX-5 2.2 SE-L Nav Diesel Automatic, with delivery due mid September. However I have just found out (my fault, I should have looked into every detail!) that no spare wheel is provided! Now i've never had a puncture in 10 years of driving, however I still don't want to take a risk and do want to get a spare.
  • Nissan Qashqai - Which cars have Active DPF regeneration? 20 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Hi all, I currently have a Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dci and looking to get another diesel in the next few months. Preferably diesel and automatic. I like the fact that my current Qashqai has active DPF so it allows me to do short journeys as well as long ones. I like the Nissan Xtrail as it would suit my needs with a growing family and being over 6ft.
  • Peugeot 107 2005-2014 - Switching off ABS in snow 14 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Is it possible to switch it off?  If it is possible, I have in mind a simple switch/relay setup that will automatically switch ABS back on next time the car is started. I occasionally drive on completely snow covered roads just for the fun of it, but with ABS it isn't as much fun because I have somewhat less control.
