Hi   I am new to cars,  Please can any one help me with two noise related issues with my Ford Focus Lx 1.6 (Petrol 2007). I bought it as a used car with warranty in January 2012. A full service has been done in June 2012.
  • Audi A3 - audi a3 loss of power, idling poorly 24 Jul 2015 (Forum)
i recently bought an audi a3 2002 1.9 TDI with no warranty and it drove fine no problems. however when i got to below a quarter of tank of fuel the ESP light came on and at first i thought the wheels where spinning but then i started to lose power and when i hard acclerate the whole car shakes quite bad when in idle it sits rumbling and shaking. i put more fuel in and it stopped. then it happened again when i got to below a quarter again but this time i put more fuel in and it keeps doing it the car used to be quite nippy but now its more like a 1.2 than a 1.9TDI does any one have any ideas on what going on?
  • Volkswagen Passat 2010 - LED Rear Lights 25 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I arranged with my dealer for the car to be looked at ( Harlow Volkswagen ). Using "guided fault finding"  ( their words ) and found that all feeds supplies and earths to lamps OK,  and that both rear lights were  faulty and needed replacing.
  • Dacia Sandero - Dacia Sandero 8 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I notice these are growing in popularity due to their low purchase price and I visited the local dealer yesterday and had a look at a 1.2 Ambience model which had electric windows, central locking, CD player and all the safety features for £ 6800. Also the car was a lot bigger inside than my 58 plate Fiesta and seemed very well put together. Normally I buy used cars for about £ 6000 and the one I have is well out of warranty and the bills are starting to mount at MOT and service time.
  • VW Passat Estate - Coil springs 3 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Having purchased a '56 SEL model in 2008 with 49K on the clock from a VW main agent, I was suprised to be told at the first MOT that one rear coil spring had broken. The car was 2 days outside its warranty period but VW, when contacted, agreed to pay half the repair cost. Subsequently, up to the present day, the other three coil springs have broken and replaced using genuine VW parts.
  • SAAB 9-3 Tid - injection pump failure 16 Apr 2012 (Forum)
    3. Might a part from another GM car using that engine be a suitable substitute - Frontera, Vectra. 4. Is there anyone in Bedford/Luton area who might rebuild a pump and give a warranty?
  • Toyota gearbox reliability... 8 Sep 2003 (Forum)
My 2.5 year old Corolla, with 100k, now has a nasty whine and my Toyota garage tells me it probably has a duff bearing - so a £300++ strip down job.... Annoying thing is the gearbox has been the one bad point of the whole car - it has been difficult to use since I bought it (compared to other Corolla's I drove as courtesy cars) - and 3 dealers I tried to get to fix it under warranty all told me it was fine - even though it wasn't - I'm convinced I must have had a Friday Job - odd since it's a Japanese built model, too... anyone think I can pursuade Toyota UK to help out financially here ?
  • Head Gasket 309 23 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Basically my garage estimate £300 to £450 for the job depending on level of destruction. The car has never over-heated and i do not currently use it. What about doing the job myself? I am very amatuerish in this respect however! thanks martin

  • '99 Accord - oxygen sensor 6 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It's still under a 3-month used warranty (not with Honda, but supplied by the dealer), but they reckon the warranty people say it's not covered (as "the exhuast system" is excluded). Any ideas gratefully received - I am thinking about calling up another dealer to get the price of the sensor itself for starters, but where I go from there I am not sure - don't want to be driving the car about if it will eventually damage the catalytic converter.
  • Peugeot 307 SW - 1.6 petrol, 04 plate - Problems starting 17 Jan 2011 (Forum)
There have also been countless other occasions when it has started but only on the 2nd or 3rd twist of the key (note: no turn-over on the first attempts - nothing at all - but then suddenly life). On the occasions when the car has refused to start itself, then jumping or bumping has got it started on the first attempt. The garage we bought from gave us a 3 month warranty so we've had it back to them a few times to look at.

  • Ford Focus 1.6 Engine Troubles 5 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The car is currently in the garage with the head off - I've seen it myself, there's a lot of movement on the pistons. I have been quoted £1500 (or, in other terms, half the value of the car on a good day) for a replacement 'short block' engine, including fitting and VAT by Ford, and a bit less (£1k-£1200) by an independent specialist (using a brand new Ford block).
