  1999 1.6 Hi I hope someone can help, there is a noise coming from the drivers side brakes, it is a clicking sound much like the sound of the card in a bicycle spoke!!

  Can anyone advise as to how I remove the rear brake drum on a Ka. I tried to remove one yesterday with no luck. Are the drums held in place by a bearing hub nut or seized on the studs. Many thanks.

  Hi All, i hope some one can help, i have a ford maverick 2.0 xlt and the ABS light started to come on, i took it to be looked at and the garage says it might be the sensor failing, they reset it but the light came back on. since then the light has gone off but when i brake i get a kicking feeling from the brake pedel... the brakes are also not very good. any ideas what this might be? southy strange typo referring to ladies' support wear removed !

  Hi, I gave my chevrolet spark 2012, 33k run for MOT, I got below advisories Nearside Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material front to rear (1.1.11 (c)) Offside Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material front to rear (1.1.11 (c)) Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Our mechanic gave a quote of £80 (labour + parts) for the brake pipe corrosion and £80 (parts alone) for the front suspension.

  Tonight I took it for a short run to see if the issue was still there, I noticed quickly that the brakes (or something else) was crunching when I was braking at low speeds. The I got a "brake system" warning which told me to stop the car. I'm pretty worried about this, anybody got any idea what could be going on?

  I am the owner of a 4 month old Honda Jazz and am experiencing a sound from the rear of my car when braking.  The sound is a clack or clack clack and mostly occurs when first braking after application of the handbrake but also occurs at several points on a journey.  My dealer says he has heard of it from a standing start but offers no further information.

  I am having problems with the parking brake and rear calipers. One or both of my rear wheels seem to be binding slightly and I am trying to work out what is causing this. I have to pull my handbrake right up in order for the parking brake to kick in and even at that it does not operate efficiently.

  I'm having a weird problem, I noticed a burning smell from the drivers side right wheel yesterdat. Smelled like a jammed brake caliper. Applied some WD40 to the caliper to free it up. This morning, came out and the tyre was flat. I presumed this was co-incidence, so put the spare on this morning. Travelled approx 3 miles earlier, the brake caliper is red hot again, and the spare is now flat.

  hi,i've just replaced the front discs/pads and the rear shoes.on my xsara 1.4i (w 2000)i went to my local motor factor for DOT 4 brake fluid,to 'bleed' the brakes,but on the back it said certain citroen cars should NOT use dot 4.i asked the shop assistant and he said i should use LMH+.Is this right?i've never heard of this before,i don't want to use this 'fluid' in case it knackers the brake system.i've even looked in my haynes manual,but can't seem to find it.any help would be much appreciated.

  A pal of mine has a 52 reg manual JTD Alfa and he tells me that his car has no engine braking. His dad has a Fiat with a JTD engine and when he bought it he apparantly commented about the lack of engine braking. We were talking about this and I suggested that these cars might have a freewheel facility.

  Would using a G-clamp damage the caliper? Also i saw a mechanic taking the lid off the brake fluid container before when replacing my back brake pads. I didnt see this mentioned in the guide. Do I need to do this? THANKS, CARLOVER

  To be perfectly blunt, they're doing my head in. Whenever I brake when I'm going slowish or coming to a stop, the brakes squeak very loud. Normally they'd do this and then stop after a while but they're doing it all the time and I wince every time it happens. I'm 99% certain it's coming from the back, therefore, the drums.

  I have a year 2000 Micra 1L, last year I had the brake pads replaced, the discs were ok at that time. I have a grinding sort of noise, not squealing, coming from the passenger side wheel when I apply the brakes, it sounds a bit like when the pads were worn down.

  Hi there, I have a 2004 reg Ford galaxy TDi PD 130, two weeks ago it had its 40,000 mile service. I was driving it the other day, and i had to apply the brakes full on. As soon as i did this, the car beeped thre times at me and the brake system warning light started flashing, then went out after flashing for about a minute and then stopped. It has now done this dunring heavy braking ever since!

  Checked tyre pressures etc and had tracking done in September when I replaced a track rod end. Only things left, could it be a rear brakes problem? Any ideas?
