Attached clear tube after filter before carbs and run pump into container - plenty of fuel coming through although quite alot of air bubbles mixed in. 3.
  • Celica GT Import - Emissions Failure 2 May 2007 (Forum)
Also may have wrong spark-plugs fitted. They said running on 95 RON petrol over here can cause these problems, and these cars should be run on 97 Super-unleaded to stop this happening. It is booked in to have both Lambda sensor and catalyst replaced........

  • Vauxhall Zafira Tourer - mechanics cant find clutch fault 7 May 2021 (Forum)
hi I had a problem with my zafira clutch pedal sticking to floor and me then needing to manually pull it back up and then it runs right as rain. So I paid over 100 quid for vauxhall to diagnose it. They said they would ring back...but I had to ring them. go figure. They said they had tested it all day on and off including a 1 hour run and could find nothing wrong.
  • any - Electric 11 Oct 2020 (Forum)
ocid=msedgntp">https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/electric-family-cars-are-cheaper-to-own-than-petrol-and-diesel-models-lower-maintenance-and-charging-costs-mean-they-are-132-a-month-less-expensive-in-the-long-run-says-study/ar-BB19Mxg4?ocid=msedgntp  I noticed in this report they did not include the cost of having to replace the battery pack ( several thousand pounds ), or the cost of having to get a charging point installed at home ( about £ 300 after you have claimed back money from the gov ), if you cant afford the 6/7 hour wait in the services to charge it up should you run out of juice, or the B&B if the charge takes linger and you do not want to sleep in the car while it is charging.
  • Renault Scenic 1 1.6 16v 2002 plate. - loss of power, wont start and back pressure and poping noises 20 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Car started to lose power on way home, it was as if it was losing power 1 cylinder at a time. got home, found. the plastic inlet manifold was loose. fitted new seals. tried starting car it eventually started but running very roughly and would not tick over, as though lacking power. during the short time running it was making poping noises and slight bangs thru the air cleaner as was obvious back pressure. it sounds like what I would call a timing issue on an old car.
  • Vw passat 130 Tdi - Vw passat 'emissions workshop' light on 24 Nov 2018 (Forum)
When I come off the motor way it's stays like this until I switch off and then is fine again, today I have been out and when I accelerated hard again the engine management light came on and the display says 'emission workshop'. After switching off the management light stays on but runs ok. It has full vw history and otherwise runs fine. Heeeeelp Thanks Andrew
  • Recommended E-Bay Items 12 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Consequently we get lots of threads in the Backroom about one item or another. I thas been suggested that we might like to try running it in a single thread. That seems a reasonable idea to me, so we'll give it a go. We'll run it a bit like the IHAQ threads - restart at 100, try to limit discussion, that sort of thing. The thread may live or die, and if it lives no doubt the "guidelines" will evolve somewhat.

  • MGB - MGB on premium petrol 12 Feb 2018 (Forum)
One of the most recent 'Ask HJ' questions was about running a 1971 MG on 'premium petrol' (link:  https://classics.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/94659/should-i-run-my-1971-mg-mgb-on-premium-petrol-). My old '73 BGT was happy on super unleaded, but needed the ignition timing retarding slightly to stop it pinking (the engines were designed with the old 5-star 100-octane fuel in mind).

  • MK1 Ford Foucus - MK1 Ford Focus Engine Warning Light 14 Aug 2017 (Forum)
On start all lights go out, occasioanly the light will come on and does not go off until the car is parked and restarted. It seems to run fine, and there is no difference engine running wise before its on or - when it comes on. I have read that the light can come on for lots of reasons, the Haynes manual I have bought for this car is singularly useless on this and I have searched the site for any clues...
