  I am looking at replacing my wifes old Fiesta and thought that we could find a car that could handle our two bikes standing up inside. When carrying the bikes we would not need the back seats so something like an Audi A2 possibly. What else would have the height without going to an MPV?

  I have to opt out of my company car soon and was pretty set on getting a 6mths or so old Mondeo TDCi - perhaps a Ford Direct one. However I've now read many horror stories about problems with the car, the dealer and with Ford themselves.

  As i've mentioned before, i'm just about to start up as a car trader, part time from home (most things are in place now, just need to start buying some cars!). I've been looking at a few nearly new (well, 18months - 2 years old) cars, and was wondering whether the manufacturers warranty (assuming it's a 3 year one) is transferrable to me, and then on to whoever purchases the car off me.

  Lots of threads mention which cars are good / bad for those of us with back problems. So which ones are truly good and bad? I have ankylosing spondolitis - a degenerative back problem - and I find lots of cars really bad to drive, some after as little as 20 mins.

  Been a bit rash and bought an old volvo estate to assist with doing up the house. Trouble is that it seems I have to start insuring it as if I have zero no claims, which puts the premium at about the price of the car! I have max no claims on my other car and will be the only driver on both, so only one can be driven at a time.

  Can all cars run on synthetic? Is synthetic the best choice for all cars? with semi being a compromise? or does it depend on the cars age? Are the claims in other threads about some synthetics being too thin true?

    I expect that this new hell will even switch on the sound despite you having the radio off.  I don't have an infotainment screen in my old car but if I did I would be taping a black cloth over it.

  Had full service two weeks ago, all fine. Car had MOT same garage, it failed on the anti roll bar as it split. He said it’s quite recent, my car is 8 years old. I’m ok with it, though I wander if the garage would have noticed any worsening parts of the anti toll bar during servicing.

  Going to test drive a Mazda CX-5. Got Mazda 5 to part exchange, 2013 40,000 miles. Not looking to buy new at least two years old, about 20,000 miles.   There you are driving along and the bulb failure light comes on. Some cars are a doddle, old CLK rear bulbs were simple to do but the rear cluster on a V70 Volvo require several plasters on cuts to my hands after changing them. You have to take the headlight off the V70 to get at the bulb.

  We have a 2007 Hyundia Getz which is mainly used for my commute to work. Next year I hope to retire. I am torn between keeping this car until it dies, buying something sensible such as an i20 or a Fabia or blowing the £5000 I have to spend on something like a ten year old BMW. Your suggestions on something that would be fun but would not lead me to poverty would be much appreciated please.

  I have an Octavia, (1.8 tsi) which i bought 3months ago that is showing high oil consumption,( not even showing on dip stick after only 2) the car is 2yrs old and has done only 8k miles, my wife has the same issue with a Fabia 1.2 tsi, still under warranty. My questions are:, are these turbo petrol engines known for this problem, have  any other owners experienced the same?

  Have a look at this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/8560451/The-10-unluckiest-cars.html It's a list of the cars which have the most claims for accidents as a percentage of ownership.  There are a lot of Hondas!  Is this because the over 75s who like to crash into things (see last week's old lady stomping on her accelerator only to find that she was in reverse in her automatic - she rather spectacularly managed to park on top of a Saab) are willing to claim and they all drive the Jazz?

  my engine has blown burning one of the valves barely 6months after last servicing and car is only 3yrs old. the dealership servicing/repairs gave me a £5,000 reoair quote. i and the dealership i bought the car from contacted Nissan but they would not help in any way saying the car is out of warranty and as such would not help in any way.

  ........... for everyday motoring? My first two cars were 20 years old when I bought them them in 1956. The first was a 1936 Wolseley 14 and the second was a 1936 Citroën 12 which was a similar shape to the Light 15. After I'd found out their many faults (I was young, inexperienced and naive) I didn't keep either of them for more than a few weeks.
