To think that many of us thought that intrusive nagging "safety" features were the worst thing that could happen. I expect that this new hell will even switch on the sound despite you having the radio off. I don't have an infotainment screen in my old car but if I did I would be taping a black cloth over it.

So far USA only. Here on the korando I have deleted the welcome message stuff when turning the ignition on. Usually drive with everything off just show the analogue clock. Music is on a USB so no pesky adverts.

Clearly a marketing opportunity for selling an ad blocker update. I can't understand why some of these distracting modern touchscreens are so big (and ugly). Is there any evidence yet that cars which have them are more likely to crash? Thankfully the modest screen in my Audi can retract into its vavona wood cabinet if it becomes visually offensive.

Daughter scared the living daylights out of me when she decided to program in aroute while driving, even though it has voice search (android auto)..

She now does the programming before setting off.

Ultimately people just have to vote with their feet. Don't buy one, there are plenty of alternatives out there. People will go back to stand alone satnavs or use phones for navigation and entertainment. Pop up ads should be banned on a safety basis.
