Kia Sportage / Hyundai Tucson advice please 2 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Does anyone know if it has a DPF (it is Euro IV)? I believe that the camshafts are chain driven. Does anyone know if it uses a DMF? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice. -
Ford - Focus buying a high miler. 27 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, After keeping my eyes upon auto trader i see a lot of Focus's that have between 90,000 and 100,000 miles on the clock but with a full ford service history and other cars that have less miles (typically 60 to 70k) but with only a part service history in my price range...which would be the better one (as long as the FSH is genuine)? also does the 2.0l petrol have a DMF?? thanks Adam slt -

Audi A4 2.0 TDI 170 - Recommendation on Honest John Car by Car Reviews 28 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Can somebody please explain to me why Honest John gives the Audi A4 Avant (from 2008 onwards..) a 5 Star rating when there are numerous reports on there stating clutch and DMF failure , sometimes repeatedly, after low milages ? Concerns the 2.0 TDI 170 engine apparantly ... Honest John is otherwise a fantastic website for all things motoring and without doubt the most trustworthy... -
Vauxhall Astra MK6 1.7dti - Astra Clutch - Burning Smell? 20 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Anyone had a similar experience with their astra? and what was the cost of repair? Is it likely that the DMF also needs to be changed? -
Ford Mondeo Mk3 - Starter Motor problem 12 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Now when i try and start the car it turns over but then all you can hear is the starter motor spinning. The DMF was changed about 7000miles ago and looks perfect. Is it a faulty starter or something else? I have checked the battery and its reading 13.5volts and about 11.2 when cranking. when the car does start its reading 14.5volts -

Volkswagen Golf VI - Low mileage and a VW diesel 1 Jan 2011 (Forum)
But I have heard with my low mileage (5,000 miles/year) there might be problems in a TDI with the filter (DPF) or flywheel (DMF). The sales guy said there are no such problems with the TDI. Another sales guy, in a different dealership, said there would be! Who do I believe? -

Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - VW Group - Dual Mass Flywheel 10 Mar 2009 (Forum)
HJ published 2 letters in lhis Saturday Telegraph column (24 May) reffering to Dual Mass Flywheel failure on diesel engined VW Group vehicles - VW, Seat and Audi. I drive a Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI with the (auto) DSG gearbox. Has anyone suffered dmf failure to any so equipped VW group car - or is such failure solely down to 'clutch slip' due to 'drivers behaviour' with the manual gearbox? -
Focus 1.8 TDCi - 2002 Focus 1.8 TDCi poor starting 22 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I've tried using the glow plugs for three attempts of ten seconds apiece, and whilst this appears to improve things, it will occasionally still stall. The car has done 95k, original glow plugs, DMF and starter motor were replaced at about 70k. There is none of the clunking/crunching that occurred when the DMF was giving up. Battery is approximately 2-3 years old. The cold weather is making me think glow plugs or waxing of the fuel (does this still occur?) -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 tdci Strong clutch pedal 17 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have been to a clutch specialist who said that the pedal should be "light as a feather" and that it sounded like the dual mass flywheel (DMF) was seized or sticking. I understand from what he told me that the "DMF" is like a shock absorber to absorb the engine torque as the clutch "bites" and that this was designed to make power take up smoother - how this affects the actual spring strength i don't understand, however the specialist said that it was because it was all interlocked?? -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - Mazda6 corrosion 2 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Some Mazda3 (hiroshima built) also suffered it in DMF? Traditionally DMF were used on high torque engines because high torque level necessitated straighter cut gears which in turn creates "lorry gearbox rattle" in neutral or on shifting. However for small I4 engines I can not see much NVH gain, I can certainly see a lot of potential pain if they fail re cost. -
Audi A4 B7 - Audi A4 B7 diesel engines 12 May 2021 (Forum)
What should I look at and should I avoid... And btw what should I focus on more? oil pump, hex shaft, DMF... Or I just should always ask for the engine codes and then do some research? Thanks. -
MBI Autoguard 29 Mar 2016 (Forum)
They come in significantly cheaper than warranty direct at £289/year or £389 lifetime and seem to promise a lot (with notable exceptions of clutch and I guess DMF with it due to anything other than a nuclear meltdown, plus bodywork, entire exhaust, airbags and a few others) but the only user experiences I can find on the internet relate to a fairly refused claim where a dealer was actually liable. -
Volvo S40/V40 - Is Volvo S40 a Volvo ? 8 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Having just spent last year £1,000 on new DPF and last week £1,300 on new clutch, dmf and one wheel bearings I would prefer to keep the car a while. However, are there other possible expensive problems to avoid by changing cars ? Also is the S40 a complete Volvo - love the comfort ? -
Mondeo - Auto vs manual mondeo 30 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Now I am not bothered about the engines as such as I'm looking for the diesel version but I am very concerned about clutch/DMF failure and so I was wondering if an automatic Mondeo diesel would be the way to go as I've heard that they don't have a dual mass flywheel. Any advice would be welcome. -
Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI - slight judder. 22 Sep 2012 (Forum)
At the moment I don't do much mileage - am averaging 500 miles a month on the motorway only, driving once a week. Does my car have a DMF? I was led to believe it does not. It is a 61 plate if that helps. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 Clutch, dual mass fly wheel 19 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Does this indicate a problem with the dual mass flywheel (if fitted) and how would i be able to tell which type? - (DMF or solid version.) many thanks in anticipation. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Dual Mass Flywheel 13 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I've googled and seen a reference to a Ford design fault where they scrimped on the 03/04 model - can anyone expand on this as I would like to take it up with Ford as after only 47k miles I'm not happy with a £1000 quote. Would like to hear from anyone who has taken on Ford with DMF problems....
