Alfa Romeo 156 Veloce 1.9 16v JTDm - Engine light on Alfa Romeo156 27 Jan 2014 (Forum)
(I could be paranoid it is so faint) Also I went to the shop the other day and as I went to drive off it would not start. I used some jump leads to get it started again and it has been fine ever since, this was 2 days ago. I know that the obvious thing to do is to tie this into garage and I intend on doing this. -
Ford Mondeo ghia tdci 2007 2L - Damsel in distress Ford mondeo start up issues 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I'm at my wits end, it all started with dmf going got this replaced with starter etc and ever since egm light been on start up fine for last month then One morning car drove fine down to shop then dead battery 5 mins later on start up, got jump start battery reading 8v, wouldn't start after that long enough with jump start so had to get it towed, Mechanic advised New battery but replaced with lead alkaline, I have read it needs to be silver calcium due to smart charge and I believe this is part of issue as 24 hours later car won't start again but when new battery was installed it read at 14v but I read this voltage would indicate smart charge faulty somewhere as should read around 16v? -
Vollkswagen Polo - Damage to car caused by highways condition 28 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Hi, my daughter recently suffered a puncture caused by the condition of the kerb where she parked, In fact the tyres was shredded by the leading edge of a drain/gutter that was so sharp as to be a danger to anyone parking. Some pics are here http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n40/guygamps/Drain_kerbzoom.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n40/guygamps/IMG_20130710_151528_162.jpg un beleivable! -
Ford Focus - How to Test a Faulty Coil Pack on a Ford Focus 17 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I've opened the bonnet and figured out where the coil pack is, and disconnected both ends of the HT leads to see if there is any obvious corrosion or bad connections, all connections look fine to my fairly inexperienced eye. I also watched a video on youtube about 'how to check a coil pack the easy way' which seemed pretty straight forward, so I followed the instructions. -
Astra G 1.8 16V Sxi - Misfires, surging and hesitation 13 Jun 2013 (Forum)
My Astra G has started acting up in the past few days. It seems to be misfiring or jerking, particularly under acceleration. This is also leading to power issues, surging etc. The CEL is off, but it has flashed up a couple of times. No other ligths are on. The codes that have come up are as follows: P1500 , P1550, P1630 From my Google-Fu, I think that this suggests that there may be a problem with the throttle body (hopefully just needing a clean), but would it be wise to change the spark plugs as well? -
Ford fiesta W reg - Fiesta won't restart after running. 2 Apr 2013 (Forum)

mgf - MGF Not Running 7 Jul 2012 (Forum)
When turned over it would run for a few seconds then stall and then not restart. First port of call was coil pack, then leads, plugs, fuel filter, manifold, new injectors and loom. After all these (not at the same time) I still had the same problem, Then a friend suggested I check the cat as it may be blocked, I thought anything was worth a go at this point, so I disconnected the downpipe at the manifold and presto the car started. -
Ford Mondeo ST 2.2 TDCi - Brakes 4 May 2012 (Forum)
Eventually got to a point where there were some breaks but after a point the pedal lost all pressure and fell away. This lead me to suspect there was a problem with the master cylinder. Replaced master cylinder - bled system - no brakes. Spoke to a friend who works for Ford - suggested it mightneed an ABS serv ice bleed. -

Chrysler Grand Voyager 3.3 LX - Voyager 3.3LX starting problem, no spark at plug 4 Nov 2011 (Forum)
When this happens there is no spark at the plugs (lately it has got so bad that sometimes the battery will go flat and I have to jump start it). The crank case sensor, plugs and leads have all been changed and had no effect. Last week an auto electrician examined the car and said he thought it was the ECU, only problem is that the ECU is part no. PO4727158AJ and I am told that this particular ECU cannot be test. -
Volkswagen Passat - VW Passat 1998 Misfire when under load 18 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Changed Plugs, Changed Coil Pack (rather costly), Replaced Fuel Filter, Cleaned throttle body, Changed air filter, changed 2 ht leads, prayed several times to several different gods without success it seems oh and chucked in the obligatory profanity. Please, please please help. I am rurally based and my nearest dealer with a VAG code reader is nigh on 40 miles away and work is a bit demanding at the moment so ime is hard to find. -
HiQ Criticise MOT Change Proposals 16 Aug 2011 (Forum)
MOT CHANGES COULD COST MOTORISTS MONEY First MoT test after four years Motorists could be unaware of defects Could lead to larger repair bills Government proposals to scrap the annual MoT test will cost motorists dear, according to Stuart Carr of the HiQ fast fit network. Secretary of State for Transport Philip Hammond has said he wants to introduce the initial MOT test for new cars after four years instead of three, and to continue testing every other year rather than the current 12 month period. -
Vauxhall Astra MkV 1.7 CDTI (diesel) - Engine management light 11 Aug 2011 (Forum)
The built in hydrometer does not show green after sitting (ie, not charged) and that coupled with the extra cranking time leads me to believe it might be a battery problem. Does anyone think the same or know if there is any battery sensing ciruits that are very voltage sensitive that might cause this ? A decent battery (in excess of 600 CCA) is about £100 and I'll get one eventually, but would like some others advice if there is any out there. -

Citroen C15D Van - electric no-go 29 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Realise positive battery feed wire has come up against sharp bodywork and has earthed it. Disconnect battery quickly as lead is very hot. No other signs of problems. Replace battery, nothing, buy new battery, replace it , nothing. Recover vehicle to home. Strip ignition switch and rebuild, still nothing. Replace starter motor and solenoid with new unit, nothing. -
price matching advertised 22 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I went to buy a tv today, sunday, at a local shop - I had negotiated on leads, stand etc and the tv had been chosen - it was done this way so they couldn't bump up the price of the TV at a later date. The one chosen was 1349+60 set up and delivery in this store - but I had found it for 1199 + 40 delivery at another store, In Glasgow admittidely - I have a friend who could set it up, but timing could be a slight issue My local store ? -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta Engine Trouble 1.25 zetec 16v 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Most of the time you can pull away gently but not any more than that, when i say gently imagine the speed of a small child on a pushbike for the first time. I have changed the plugs, the leads, the coil pack. I've tried disconnecting the MAF engine is no different whatsoever, tried disconnecting the lambda, this made the engine slightly improve on idle but no change to driving. The idle is smooth except when the AC is on, then it struggles and 'pops', disconnecting lambda stops this. -
Fiesta Mk4 1.25 Zetec 1999 - Fiesta power loss under acceleration 27 May 2011 (Forum)
There's no misfire as far as I can tell. So I'm after any other suggestions. I'm reluctant to just change plugs/leads/coil in case it turns out to be an engine management type problem. I'm also hoping it's something easy I can fix myself, cos I can't afford costly repairs at the mo'. Thanks in advance. -
Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 53 plate - EGR Pipe / exhaust gas feed carbon build up 16 May 2011 (Forum)
Hi Guys After cleaning out my EGR valve i am still getting some problems with my car. either bad idle or sometimes not starting and shakes in low revs under 2k. I noticed that when cleaning the egr that the pipe leading away from it (to the right and around teh back) is also from what small part i can see into it, has a lot of carbon build up. I am toying with the idea of taking this off and cleaning but is it worth it? -
Reporting Someone for Driving with a Brain Injury 29 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I'm becoming increasingly concerned about this person as they will not accept that they can't drive anymore, even after being told by the doctor. This has lead them to lie to the doctor about continuing to drive. Obviously i can't ring their doctor due to confidentality reasons and i've been told they are the only persons allowed to report someone for driving with such illness.
