  • Ford Mondeo - Ford mondeo 2001 tddi cuts out after 8 seconds 19 Nov 2014 (Forum)
No warning lights, starts straight away again so no air in the system or fuel problems. The only thing wrong is the lift pump is disconnected. Could this be an Ecu problem. Is it recognising there is no lift pump? If so why did I drive it for an hour previously? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks. Steve.
  • Ford Focus 2.0 TDi GHIA (2007) - Battery Light on Dashboard Fault 8 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Have any of you come across a similar fault before, and if so what was the cause and potential solution? I'm concerned as if this is an ECU issue, I could be looking at a very steep bill. Any help would be greatly appreciated Darren
  • Audi A4 avant B6 130 Tdi 2002 - Audi A4 Oil sensor warning light 10 May 2014 (Forum)
As this sensor is located under the car and covered by splash/wind guard, I could not easily see what part number mechanic had used. So problem bugged me for quite a while. I kept on thinking it was a ECU fault or bad wiring connection.    Finally got fed up with it and we took the under cover off and read the part number 24380 Febi Bilstein! Googled it and found quite a few problems with them.
  • Fiat Punto 1.2 8v 2002 plate - Fiat Punto MIL lamp wont go out 14 Feb 2014 (Forum)
If it’s cold or you touch the accelerator starting the lamp comes on and stays on. Forums seem to suggest anything from ECU to battery, to leads and plugs, though the plugs should have been changed in the main service. Mr Clutch swapped the Coil Packs out but it made no difference so they put the originals back (and didn’t charge).
  • Vauxhall Astravan 2003, 1.7 dti envoy - Struggling to start 8 Aug 2013 (Forum)
1> the injectors, which I have had replaced (fault is now even worse!) 2> fuel pump ecu 3> fuel pump Ive just shelled out a few hundred quid for the injectors. The battery is sound, the starter motor seems to be sound, Ive recently serviced the car changing oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter etc.
  • Ford Focus Estate 1.8 Petrol - Coolant temperature 7 Jun 2013 (Forum)
There are no other indications so far of a problem but it is overdue for a service. According to the ECU the coolant temperature was 106C. If these engines run hot as I get the impression that they were designed to do then I guess this isn't a problem. So first question to ask is should a 1.8 Zetec Petrol (2002) be running at 106C after 30 minutes of driving?
  • Ford focus tdci 06 plate - Starting problems power loss and intermittent 4 Mar 2013 (Forum)
The next time I went out the same thing happened but when tried starting back up the engine was immobilised and had to have it recovered to a garage again. After the garage did further investigation it has previously had a new instrument cluster and a ecu ? Someone has obviously been chasing the fault and I have bought someone else's problems. Please has someone got any ideas !!!!!!!!!!!
  • Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI 2008 - Hesitation unser load 16 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Could this be a fuel pump fault or is the system shutting the pump off as a fault is detected elsewhere! These are no other faults that the ECU is reporting. What do you guys think the best path is, as I would rather not have to replace the fuel pump Car has done 65,000 miles, services well within recommended time... Any ideas Thanks
  • Fiat Panda Multijet 2006 - Suitable fault code reader 3 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I realise that the cheaper a OBD reader is, the less it can do, but can I get something that will identify why an engine fault light has come on so I can at least have an idea of which sensor is sending the ecu an unexpected reading? I don't like the idea of having to take it to a garage every time anything whatsoever goes wrong with it, and paying out an hour's labour charge just for them to diagnose the fault, let alone fix it.
  • Peugeot 307 (90) Hdi - Peugeot 307Hdi (90) - Noises and a few faults.. 11 Oct 2012 (Forum)

  • 1995 toyota celica convertible 2.0GT Auto - Celica Charge and Catalyst lights suddenly on 12 Jul 2012 (Forum)
There is the charge (battery symbol) and also "toaster" style symbol (catalyst ??) both on at once. Tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery to clear ECU but they remain. Tried disconnecting battery with engine running and it dies - does this mean the alternator is dead ? Why would that cause the catalyst light ?? The drive belt is going round fine.
  • Citroen Saxo 1.1 starting problems 30 Apr 2012 (Forum)
We are reluctant to go to a dealer with an intermittent problem, especially as the warning light on the dash has never lit. Does the latter mean that fault codes have not been recorded by the ECU? 2. We have got a Haynes manual and can see that several sensors and actuators are involved in starting the engine. Anything got any suggestions about this particular fault.
  • BMW E46 320D - Ignition/Starting Issue 6 Feb 2012 (Forum)
After reading various threads with similar issues I've replaced the fuel pump relay and this made no difference, I'm not inclined to spend £170 or so on a pump just yet as people who have gone this route seem to continue to have problems and I get the feeling its more of an electrical issue i.e. signal to/from ecu or instrument pack etc. Has anyone found the root cause of this issue? Thanks in advance.
  • Peugeot 306 - 306 rotates but wont start 7 Aug 2011 (Forum)
everytime i went to start the car it struggled to start and when it did start would stall straight away until it was warm however everytime i approached a junction it would stall. i called the RAC out and they couldnt find the problem but suggested i change the relay behind the ECU, which i did but the problem still persisted, i took it to the garage to be plugged into the machine and they said there were no faults and it was probably because it had been stood and needed to be run in again.
  • VW Golf Mk4 1.6 petrol - Engine stops when fuel tank 1/4 full &runs rough 17 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have had the fuel pump and sender unit replaced, (problem could have started after this but can't be sure), I have had the fuel filter changed, I have had the earths checked, I have had the breather from the fuel tank checked, I have had the MAF sensor replaced, I have had the ECU removed and tested twice with no faults showing. I don't want to spend any more money without it solving the problem. Can any one advise what could be wrong?
  • Astra 1997 GSi 16v 2.0 - Loss of power, and sudden jerking 24 Jun 2011 (Forum)
To exclude the EGR, I blocked it off, and it is exactly the same symptoms, and no engine light, or error codes from the ECU. Thanks, Ryan.
  • Toyota RAV-4 (1994 - 2000) - 1996 2.0 Immobiliser problem 22 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Have spoken to a helpful techie at my nearest Toyota dealer ( over 20 miles away) My options are ( if i can somehow get car towed or transported over there) 1: Have "zapper" unit re-programmed, if still dead, 2: Have ECU in car re-programmed. 3: If above fails, have all wiring associated with immobiliser removed, but noted that they do not have wiring diagrams, so would have to be traced through. I had idea to post zapper over for re-programming, but they need car, keys and zapper.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 2003 1.6 Live Data Expert? - Idle Problem 3 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Ive done# Coil Pack x2 Spark Plugs x 2 Temp Sensor (Needed doing anyway) Air Filter Fuel Filter HT Leads x 2 Taken Voltage from Battery seems ok Taken to Ford for a scan no codes they just updated my ECU software?? Cleaned the idle control valve The problem is this when I stop at lights/junctions the engine vibrates, sometimes the whole car. It gets worse at night when lights are on etc and you can tell due to, flickering lights inside and out, when you have the rear heated window on, even the heater blowers slow down due to lack of power when idle.
  • Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 2000 1.8 16V - Fault code 0170. 3 Feb 2011 (Forum)
If it makes any difference it's a 2000 model ( Opel) 1.8 16v petrol drive by wire jobbie, Z18XE engine code I think, Simtec 71? ECU, certainly it needs a proper ODB code reader rather than my trusty paper clip :-((
  • Hyundai Getz - Any Engine management experts out there? 15 Dec 2010 (Forum)
It would appear the temp sensors are ok but the lambda reads low when cold. Apparently the ECU's run open loop when cold so in theory the lambda sensor is ignored. Anyone got any ideas please?
