The Backroom 21 Sep 2001 (Forum)
people come, people go, but if we?re good, the Backroom will remain a constant. You surely have to admit that CW?s Lada is good for a laugh if nothing else. Certianly in the world of effort and gain, this place is till one of the most enjoyable I read. I would be interested in Martyn?s and HJ?s thoughts. Going back in my box, Mark. -
Peugeot 2008 - Need another car 20 Aug 2024 (Forum)
We currently have just over £8k of that we can access by the end of next week, and I have today seen a Peugeot 2008 1.5 Deisel at a local car sales place. Have looked at MOT history and can see that due to recent fail, has had N/S front suspension joint replacement. Advisory that shows likely that O/S is likely to go same way in not too distant future. I would appreciate if people could give me their thoughts and feedback on the above please. -

CITROEN C5 2.2 HDI - Help with my 'limping home' C5 2 Apr 2020 (Forum)
I recently bought this car and, from the off, I've been getting a series of error messages randomly. Everything from tyre(s) punctured - they're not, to 'Anti-Pollution Fault' and 'Deisel Additive Low" - stopping the car and restarting has got rid of the messages briefly. Two days ago, the STOP warning came on along with the 'Tyre(s) punctured' message and, when I got the the roundabout and tried to pull away, there was hardly any power. -

Honda Civic Diesel Auto EX 2018 - Wheels on Honda Civic 2018 13 Feb 2019 (Forum)
What tyres should come fitted to a New (Sept 18) Honda Civic IDEC auto EX? My Civic came with Continental 235/45 R17's. By putting a straight edge across it is apparent these do not offer any protection against kerbing the rim. I have driven over 150,000 miles in Civics over the last 5 years and not damaged a wheel once. -

Ford Mondeo mk3 2.2TDCi - Diesel Injectors 15 Jan 2017 (Forum)
My car is a 2005 Ford Mondeo 2.2TDCi which is fitted with the Ford DuraTorque "Puma" engine and I believe it is a late Euro 3 version as it is around this time that Euro 4 version became available. The injectors fitted to it are 601's but I also have a new set of 701's which came out of 2006 Mondeo 2.2 TDCi (Euro 4). Please can you tell me if the two types of injectors are interchangeable and what is the difference between the two? -

Vauxhall Tigra B CC (2004 - ) - 08 1.8 - lack of spare wheel 27 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Mrs S has just bought a new Tigra with 17" pentaline alloys. For some reason this car (and Corsas with the same wheel option) comes with no spare wheel or jack - just a can of 'get you home' goo. I can see no logical reason for this - other Tigra and Corsa models with different wheels have either normal or space saver spares. -

Peugeot 308 - Jump start: Negative terminal is not reachable 11 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi all, I have two Peugeots, 308 and 307. 307's battery is drained due to forgotten headlight. So I am aiming to run it by jump starting from 308. However, the problem is, the negative terminal of the 308's battery is not reachable. I can reach it by removing the red thing on top of the battery but I guess the car won't start before the jump start if I do so. -
Ford Focus Estate - Ford Focus Mk1 - Petrol or Diesel? 27 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I like the fuel economy of the Focus diesels (hj's real mpg suggests 36mpg petrol vs 48mpg diesel) but I'm worried about the horror stories of older diesels failing expensively (the DMF problem). My choice for the Mk1's (and Mk 1.5's) seem to either of 2 diesel engines, the 1.8TDDi and the 1.8 TDCi, or the 1.6 petrol engine. I would appreciate any comments or advise on which is the better to buy. I do about 10,000 miles/year, including long runs from East Anglia to Scotland 4-5 times a year
