  Had it taken to the Garage they diagnosed the Coil Pack new one fitted. Car running fine next day battery flat as a Pancake. Jump satrted it ran for about three hundred yards started to lose Power Rev Counter not working nor the indicators or clock eventually conked out. Put a Spare battery on everything fine.

    Don't know what could be the problem, If it was the battery, it wouldn't recover after a minute of charge, or can failing batteries be intermitant? if so, why did the garage say battery was fine, they put a load on it and checked the alternator. Would appreciate any suggestions, really struggling to think of what it would be.

  Assuming the new battery is not defective, then it seems logical that there is an electrical fault somewhere. It's odd that the length of time between charging the battery and finding it dead seems to vary, sometime it's a week sometimes the next day.

  i recently had to charge the battery up on my motor cause swmbo left the side lights on all night , whilst on charge i decided to clean it up and top up the electrolyte , whilst doing so it revealed the manufacture date on the casing 1990 , and i thought they only lasted 3 or 4 years can any one beat that?

  I have a Varta B18 "Blue Dynamic" calcium/silver battery on my car. Given the recent hot weather, I am concerned as to the fluid level in the cells but seem unable to remove the cover to check.
